if yesterday evening was stm's annual gotong-royong (community work together) to clean up the surrounding areas and the reb's pastoral group had to dig up and around the drains, today was stm's day of prayer and fasting.
we had a time of worship and a guest speaker, rev ray porter, from omf uk who shared 2 sessions about mission challenges today.
from 1.30-3.45pm, the different pastoral groups went out to the comunity to do work again. the reb's pastoral group went with 2 others to the infant jesus sisters tuition center at kampung pasir rahang to do a cleanup. from the pictures, you can see that the guys had to clean up the outside compound, especially removing a huge lump of soil and big stones so that there will be more parking space for cars. the girls cleaned the house compound and outside drains. it was indeed hard work as everyone had been fasting since morning. but we discovered who was probably the strongest guy in the seminary!
the children who come to the tuition center from the surrounding squatter areas showed their appreciation with some singing and we reciprocated with some songs. the sisters prepared light refreshments and so we broke fast 1 hour earlier. anyway, food was prepared for us and was not nice not to eat and drink something
