countdown to 20th anniversary of Op Lalang 1987

today is just one month away from the 20th anniversary of the infamous Operation Lalang 1987 where the ISA was used to detain over a hundred citizens of Malaysia, including for the first time Christians. we will make a countdown to that fateful day. Like the Jews who cry 'Remember Masada', we Malaysians must cry 'Do not forget Op Lalang 1987!'.

in the meantime, i will try to put up my powerpoint slides which i made for the seminar up on this blog. but need to convert them maybe into a video format first.

Dear Anthony,

Sorry for 'hijacking' your post. But since you are touching on social justice issues, I'm sure you are aware by now the lawyers and some members of the public marched from the Palace of Justice to the PM's office to submit 2 memos to the PM in light of the Lingam's tape scandal yesterday.

We have a situation not very unlike those in Amos' time. Amos 2:6 Thus says the Lord:
For three transgressions of Israel, and four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they sell the righteous for silver,
and the needy for a pair of sandals-

A petition to the Yang Dipertuan Agung to save the judiciary is being prepared. For more info log in to http://harismibrahim.wordpress.com/

with your full name and NRIC No.

It's time for Christians to speak out and take action. I think so far the various bodies representing Christians in the country have remained silent.
hijacking is something frowned upon in other blogs but i'm a charitable person especially when it comes to anything about ot passion. and social justice is a key issue in the OT preaching of the prophets.

i have not blogged on this issue yet as i had been down with the flu bug these few days as well as teaching 9 hours this week in the seminary.

anyway, with your links, this will encourage others to read on and be informed. so much has been said on the issue already, we will just wait and see what the independent panel can do as i already have my doubts.

i have been trying to convert the ppt either into swf or video to embed into blogger but it has not been successful. any ideas anyone?
