meyer-briggs test

Click to view my Personality Profile page

i took the test many years ago in the seminary. it was a sort of a way to know ourselves better. today i went to the website to do an online text of 76 questions. well, it came out the same result as it was years ago.

i am an ISTJ! Examiner and Protector! Wonder how that work out (especially 'examiner' to my students in stm. no wonder as i am very thorough in details in my marking! my students always complain that i use up many red ink pens per year. but as for protector, that's a new one).

Hi Anthony,

Welcome to the club. I am also an ISTJ, though the individual % may be different. Mine are:
I - 95%
S - 58%
T - 63%
J - 63%

When I found out the description of an ISTJ, they are pretty accurate in describing my personality. Will take the test again in a few years time. Doubt the core characteristics will change. Maybe just the %.

You may like to know the 2nd richest person in the world, Warren Buffet shares our characteristics. He is the only person in the world that gets rich by merely investing. When it comes to investing, he is my 'sifu'. I would say he is the Solomon of the investment world. Loads of folksy and uncanny wisdom when he opens his mouth.

Btw, did you take the Multiple Intelligences Test? My results are the following:
Verbal/Linguistic - 65%
Naturalist - 50%
Intrapersonal - 50%

Notice that you change your template from time to time. To keep it fresh?
dear splim,

your introvert percentile is very high! i thought i was bad. perhaps through the years being a pastor has forced me to 'open' up a bit. hence, the figure has gone down from before.

i will do the multiple intelligences test later just to find out my scores.

as for blog template, yes, i like to experiment wit different templates. sort of trying to feel my way round to get what i like. had been trying to get a 3 column template. found this one with allows one to modify the existing bloggers' template. so far, it is ok except that i wanted a 3 column template in order to have 2 posting columns! i want to blog 2 different things on the same website. i will need to get into the template html and try to configure to give me 2 posts instead of 1 at the moment.

I noticed some very bad grammar in my previous post e.g. 'My results are the following'. Guess that is quite characteristic of the Verbal/Linguistic type. I think I'm pretty good at writing. Verbal? Don't think so. Some people talk more in one hour than I talk the whole year.

Don't you think it's pretty challenging for an introvert to be a pastor? That's probably the last thing I want to do. Then again if I ever become a good pastor, there is nothing to boast. It will be entirely possible only by God's grace.

Btw, I read from the myPersonality website, one of the jobs suitable for Verbal/Linguistic type is that of a Preacher. Me, a preacher. Must be kidding. Again, if I ever become a good preacher, there is absolutely nothing to boast.

Intrapersonal type matches a theologian. Hmm, maybe a bit closer. Anyway, I believe all of us are called to be theologians i.e. to know God. Just a matter of whether we end up with good theology or bad theology.
introverts can become good pastors too (and i am not just talking from personal experience). sometimes extroverts 'talk' too much and get themselves into a bind. introverts think before they talk, which can often be good in counselling others.

verbal/linguistic may mean a good writer, not necessarily a good speaker. some people are good writers e.g. i.h. marshall, j.i. packer, f.f. bruce etc but 'lousy' speakers. i once heard packer in singapore in 1994. man, he can put people to sleep.

hey, if your writings skills (editing etc) are good, i need people to help me proofread things like articles and books. so far, my last 2 books were edited with the help of a good friend. i cannot afford to pay a professional proofreader and editor as this will jack up the cost of the books. i prefer to keep the price low so as to get them into the hands of as many Christians as possible. so, if you are free to edit, proofread and give comments, when i need help, i know who else to contact.

Hi Anthony,

Will be glad to help in any way. Just email me at limsp123@yahoo.com.

Heard Packer once. Not very impressive but if I can name one Christian book which has left a lasting impression on me is 'Knowing God.' A friend told me that he found Marshall to be a bore too.

Just one final thought. Some people suffer from verbal diarrhea. Mine is a case of verbal constipation!
tq for your help. will be writing a week's devotion for a UK devotional called light for our path 2009. something which i am doing yearly for the last 5 years. it is like the SU asian reflections or Daily bread.

verbal constipation? well, i think it is there but it will slowly come out one day. when i was in Form 6, my nickname was 'man of few words'! today, i am far from it (verbal diarrhea)!
