The University is seeking to appoint an outstanding scholar to the newly established Morpeth Chair of Theology in the Faculty of Education and Arts. Suitable candidates might come from any relevant sub-discipline, with preference for systematic or dogmatic theology.

The position is available on a full-time, continuing basis.
Women are particularly encouraged to apply as they are under-represented at senior academic levels in the School/Faculty.

Position Description

Essential Criteria
• Research doctorate or equivalent research achievement in theology.
• A strong research track record in theology, as demonstrated through funded research and/or high impact publications.
• International reputation in theology, and demonstrated impact of research in theology.
• Demonstrated record of successful teaching in theology at higher education level.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a team in developing a new degree program in theology.
• Ability to engage with relevant communities outside the university in promoting research collaboration and outcomes.

Desirable Criteria
• Experience in successful leadership in a University setting.
• Successful record of supervising research higher degrees.
• Successful record of leading research teams in theology.

The Position Classification Standard for Professor, Level E should be viewed before applying.

Conditions and Benefits

Academic Level E $126,089 per annum.
Compulsory contributory superannuation is a condition of employment plus generous employer contribution of 17%.

The successful applicant will be offered employment on an Australian Workplace Agreement (AWA). You may choose to have your conditions of employment covered by an AWA or a Certified Agreement.
