malaysian youth scrabble competition

at the 3rd malaysian youth scrabble competition, our son Markus did very well for his first foray into individual scrabble competition (he had represented his school twice at the national schools finals in the previous years). this year there was no schools competition but only individual competition.

he finished a credible fifth place which also meant he made it to the malaysian contingent for the world youth scrabble competition in december 4-5th 2008 to be held in penang.

his school, KGV, sent five students to the competition but only Markus made it to the top 40 round which involved playoffs. the more you win, the higher you go. also, the better the spread of points, the higher your final placement.

Congratulations! Good going Markus!
From that picture I actually mistook him for one of my good friends - who is one smart one, who got a scholarship to study in Cambridge, I think he completed his Masters in Engineering, came back and worked in Motorola, and now in consulting. And we've been pestering him to take up TEE sooooon ...
yup, hope he can take up the TEE challenge and equip himself for ministry. you think i know him? is he from pudu?
