welcome new year 2009

so, a brand new year ahead. in a previous post, the reb already spelt out the new responsibilities that come with the new year.

in an old post, the reb was contemplating whether to change his old workhorse, the 1983 mazda, which has given 26 years of faithful service. well, finally, last month, the old faithful was officially 'retired' from active service and returned f.o.c to its original owner, the reb's cousin, whom he had bought the car from in 1988 for rm 16,000. the car changed hands on 30th dec 2008.
in came the new workhorse, a blue proton saga 1.3, with a number plate NCE 102. yes, indeed very 'nice', from the photo.

New car in new year! This year perhaps you can drive this car back to Ipoh together with the new students!

Go easy! Proton cars need super care to ensure that it doesn't fall apart after its 2nd year :-(
dear paul,

of course, the reb does not go around thrashing his cars. anyway, the old one lasted 26 years and still going strong. this one will have to last the next 20 years!

May your friends be gracious in their demands of your new car!! In the past, I was too generous with my new Proton and pushed it too hard in the name of ministry and generosity ... and paid the heavy cost (which had to be borne alone ...)
the proton is more of my wife's car, so she has the say to who can use. the reb goes round on his 1979suzuki scrambler!!!! will post a photo later of his 'precious'.

Once I was driving around in campus in the evening, and suddenly was filled with a great feeling of gratitude and thanksgiving for my proton iswara...I said a little prayer and thank god for the ride, asked god to "guard" the car against any bad damage so I can continue to do the little I can in the VCF's "transport ministry".

A couple of day later, the car's engine oil tank leaked and cost me a substantial sum (for a student) to repair...

Dunno if it's a lesson kah, a testimony kah...or wut...just an anecdote perhaps.

The YHWH giveth and the YHWH taketh away, blessed be the name of the YHWH...

Congrats on the new car!! and Happy New Year reb.

steven,
you are 'frightening' the reb! the lord gives and the lord takes.
