Just last Sunday I was privileged to meet up with a group of Chin refugees at one of the old flats in the city. More than 20 of them crammed into a small 3 room flat. They are a group of people hidden from our eyes and conscience.

Providing food is only a short term solution. The long term solution is to get our Govt to ratify the UN Convention of recognizing the status of refugees and asylum seekers so that they will no longer be subject to abuse by groups like RELA and the immigration dept.

It is interesting to note that while doing my assignment on the Exile to read of attempts to reinterpret exilic passages in light of refugee studies and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder studies. (Smith-Christopher, A Biblical Theology of Exile).
interesting area to reflect on more and see how contemporary scripture can be.
